Sofia Dona is a visual artist and architect. Weaving historical references with personal narratives, she creates site-specific installations and video works that challenge perceptions of everyday life and reveal stories. She often produces a defamiliarizing effect that aims to make the pieces both revealing and poetic. Dona has been an Onassis AiR Fellow (2023) and an invited resident at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation (2021).
Moreover she was awarded with the City of Munich Prize for Architecture (Förderpreis für Architektur der Landeshauptstadt München, 2018) and the Fulbright Scholarship for Visual Artists (2015). Recently her work has been exhibited in various spaces such as the Gropius Haus of the Bauhaus Foundation in Dessau (2021) and the Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart (2020).
