Caroline Ektander (she/her) is a Swedish architect and transdisciplinary environmental humanities researcher based at Bauhaus University Weimar, where she is currently completing her PhD in artistic practice. She co-founded Toxic Commons together with Antonia Alampi (Spore Initiative), Prof. Simone Müller (UA), and the Hazardous Travels research cluster at LMU Munich in 2019. The initiative grew from a shared commitment to foster art–science collaboration and to develop research formats that can better trace the invisible dynamics of toxicity and the structures that sustain it. Through public-facing formats and interdisciplinary engagement, Toxic Commons seeks to deepen understanding of the uneven violence of toxic exposure and its profound entanglements with human, more-than-human, and planetary life.
